Select Insurance Intermediaries provides travel insurance to the retail industry and was founded in 1996. Claims are handled by Inter Group Claims Services and Inter Group Assistance Services are the 24 hour emergency service provider.

Select policies enable travellers to decide the level of cover they require, offering UK citizens the benefit of enjoying individual, multi-trip and extended stay policies.

Select is also able to offer cover for certain sporting activities, although some higher risk activities incur a slight increase in premium.

In 2003, Inter Group Claims Services (IGCS) and Inter Group Assistance Services (IGAS) were declared best claims and assistance handlers in the travel insurance industry. The awards are arranged annually by the International Travel Insurance Journal, a publication set up following the success of the International Travel Insurance Conference in 1999.

IGCS and IGAS entered the awards following their nomination by a number of partner organisations. Entrants were then assessed in four areas - new initiatives, new technology, efficiency and exceptional standards of service or care. High scores in each of these areas led to Inter reaching the final five. With Inter Group's main competitors in the same category, winning the award came as a welcome surprise to the Directors that attended the ITIJ Awards ceremony in Rome.
